College Admissions

How important is the SAT ?
Well, a recent study showed that 88% of all schools ranked standardized test scores as “moderate” or “considerable” importance. In general, the larger a school is, the more emphasis is placed on test results.

Pie.jpgLarge universities tend to rely more on SAT scores in the admissions process because the high number of applications they receive leaves them little to examine each prospective student.

Small colleges tend to take a more holistic approach to reviewing your application, placing slightly less emphasis on your scores.  More emphasis is placed on personal factors, which include letters of recommendation, leadership and extracurricular activities, interviews, and the personal statement.

Universities make their admissions decisions before your AP and IB tests are complete – so the SAT is often the only standardized test score the schools can use to evaluate you.

Along with the SAT, most of America’s competitive universities require at least one SAT Subject Test.
